Amazing Animals: Design vs. Darwinism
by Chris Ashcraft

What would the Earth be like without animals? They are indeed a very special part of the creation that provide endless fascination and bring much love into our lives. Unknown animals are discovered each year and the complicated world of these creatures has been made clearer by recent scientific discoveries. This presentation focuses on the amazing gifts of animals that illustrate the ingenuity of their design and creative power of our Father in heaven.

Catastrophic Plate Tectonics: A Global Flood Model of Earth History
by Steven Austin

How did the catastrophic sedimentary and tectonic processes associated with the global flood form the world we see? Catastrophic plate tectonics was the theory devised by creationists 150 years ago to explain the geology of continents and ocean basins. Lately, creationists have modeled the ocean-floor upheaval that initiated the flood, subducted the pre-flood ocean floor, and propelled the oceans over the continents. Subduction of the pre-flood ocean floor moved continents into their present positions, and enlarged and deepened ocean basins. Major mountain ranges are the product of plate collisions. Left over heat and global cooling following the flood created the rapid post-flood ice age and Earth’s modern climate.

The Creation of the World: Understanding Genesis 1:1
by Larry Vardiman

This presentation is a word-by-word exposition of Genesis 1:1 from a young-earth creationist perspective. How the Bible describes the creation of mass, space, and time. The theology of God, the creation of everything from nothing, and a taste of Hebrew will be addressed.

Geology and the Global Flood
by Steven Austin

Scripture describes a global flood in no uncertain terms. All major mountains of the world have fossil of sea creatures in very widespread sedimentary strata at high elevations. Five affirmations about geologic processes form the framework for understanding the geologic features of the earth: (1) sedimentation, (2) tectonics, (3) erosion, (4) volcanism, and (5) exponential decline. Catastrophic flood tectonics and sedimentation were followed by great volcanic events and colossal sheet-flood and channelized erosion. These global geologic processes have declined into the slower processes we see in the present world. Scripture forms the framework for interpreting the geology of the world we see.

How Big is God

Radioisotopes and the Age of the Earth: The Earth's Young After All
by Larry Vardiman

Radioisotope dating has become the standard method for estimating the age of the Earth. Yet, the millions and billions of years estimated by this method conflicts with the thousands of years that the Bible indicates to be the age of the Earth. An eight-year research project designed to explore the claims of radioisotope dating for an old earth and to offer a young-earth alternative will be completed by the Institute for Creation Research and the Creation Research Society in 2005. The RATE project has found several major pieces of evidence that radioisotope dating is in error by a factor of many orders of magnitude and rocks commonly thought to be billions of years old may only be thousands of years old. This talk summarizes the project and discusses its major findings.

The Search for Sodom and Gomorrah
by Steven Austin

The lost cities are linked biblically to the region occupied by the “cities of the plain.” The key to locating the “cities of the plain” is to find the surviving city of Zoar . These cities must be southeast of the Dead Sea in the vicinity of modern Safi in the country of Jordan . Spectacular archaeological sites (Early Bronze III) exist that date to the time of Abraham. These cities show evidence of catastrophic collapse and burn. The cities were not rebuilt. The evidence points to a regional shaking event and a regional fire, even outside the walls of fortified cities. A regional earthquake associated with natural gas eruption and atmospheric ignition is the favored scenario for the natural/supernatural disaster. Those cities became famous for the nature of human wickedness, the swiftness of God’s judgment and the deliverance of the righteous.

Some Like it Hot: One View on Climate Change
by Larry Vardiman

A discussion of the evidence that global warming is occurring, Al Gore’s theory that carbon dioxide is causing it, weaknesses in Al Gore’s theory, and an alternative explanation due to fluctuations in solar activity.

Wonders of the Cell
by Chris Ashcraft

Cell Biology provides many extraordinary examples of intelligent design. Inside each and every organism reside biomechanical systems that Darwin and his contemporaries could never have imagined. Even today, much of what is happening inside cells is still not understood, and yet evolutionists hold fast to a belief that these remarkable constructs developed without God.

These two contrasting views of the cell provide poignant illustration of how worldviews impact our interpretation of physical evidence. In his presentation, Chris Ashcraft will discuss the cell as it relates to these opposing views and describe some important cellular features, which offer testimony to the glory of the Creator.
