Seattle Creation Conference 2006

Seattle Creation Conference 2006
Item# VID-scc_06

Seven seminars by Heinz Lycklama, Ray Rempt, Barry Setterfield, Bruce Barton, Spike Psarris, and Steve Wolfe are included in this powerful collection of DVD, which were recorded at the Seattle Creation Conference - August 2006.

Heinz Lycklama
Dr. Heinz Lycklama earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics and a Ph. D. degree in experimental Nuclear Physics from McMaster University in Canada in 1965 and 1969 respectively.

Seminar Title: Intelligent Design:

Dr. Lycklama discusses the beginnings and the principles of the Intelligent Design movement and how Intelligent Design differs from the theory of Evolution, as well as from Creationism. Phenomena can be explained by the principles of either chance, necessity or design. He then describes a process for testing for design and explain use of the the terms "irreducible complexity" and "specified complexity" used by ID proponents. Lastly he will also touches on some of the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the Intelligent Design movement.

Seminar Title: Icons of Evolution

Ideas are often reinforced by means of the frequent use and display of memorable icons. There is no better known icon for the theory of evolution than the picture that demonstrates an ape walking on four limbs and then through a series of transitions to a human being walking on two legs. Every school science textbook shows this icon. But there are other icons that are often used to demonstrate the theory of evolution despite the fact that the principles and concepts conveyed by the icons have long since been proven to be false, even by scientists who claim to be evolutionists. And yet these icons still appear in many of the popular text books used in our public schools today. If you have children or grandchildren in public schools, you need to know what these icons are and how they are being used to support the theory of evolution.

Ray Rempt
Dr. Ray Rempt studied physics and received a Ph.D. from UCLA in 1969. He was the first student there to receive the degree “with distinction”. He has performed original research in atomic and molecular physics, optics, fiber optic sensors, magnetic detection and other disciplines. Ray is currently a technical fellow in the Boeing Company’s Physics department, working with various advanced concepts and sensors.

Seminar Title: Why There Must Be a Creator - (You mean it's OK to think?)

Doctor Rempt will look at issues of PURPOSE and PREFERENCE, both of which contribute to and determine the more esoteric experiences of fulfillment and happiness, in addition to pointing to the inescapable conclusion of a caring creator. He will also discuss how DESTINY is molded by DESIRE, and visa versa, and specifically seeing the creator as the author of each.

Barry Setterfield
Barry Setterfield was born in Australia and educated at the University of Adelaide. Mr. Setterfield is an active researcher who has been investigating the speed of light since 1979. His first major paper was published by Flinders University in 1987, and written at the request of Stanford Research Institute International.

Seminar Title: Lightspeed and Other Puzzling Data that May Support a Recent Creation

Five physical quantities, including the speed of light, show synchronous trends that seem to have a single cause. This cause, and its behavior with time, originates in an event which is reiterated 12 times in Scripture, and may indicate a young universe.

Bruce Barton
Bruce has a BA in Meteorology from San Jose State University, and a Bachelor of Theology from Pacific School of Theology. He has also completed studies in engineering and electronics, and is a pilot and flight instructor. Bruce recently retired from his position as an instrumentation engineer in Research and Development for Weyerhaeuser Company.

Seminar Title: The Rise of Darwinism and Its Implications for Society

Why was Darwin’s Origin of Species accepted so enthusiastically by theologians, scientists, and philosophers? How has science come to be dominated by materialism and naturalism? Charles Darwin has been lionized as the father of evolutionism, but deist and atheist philosophers had been setting the stage for rejecting God as Creator for many years before his book appeared. The ideas of Darwin and his predecessors continue to affect our thinking today, with huge consequences for our society. This presentation will trace some of the ideas leading to Darwin’s evolutionary thought and beyond, and how they’ve affected our culture.

Spike Psarris
Spike has a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, and has done graduate work in Physics. For a number of years, he was an engineer in the U.S. military space program; he entered that position as an atheist and committed evolutionist, and came out of it as a young-earth creationist and Christian. In his presentations, he'll show astronomical evidences against evolution and for creation.

Seminar Title: Our Solar System: Evidence for Creation

This presentation goes through each planet in our Solar System (and a few of their moons), and shows how each one discredits evolutionary theories in a different way. Includes about 100 beautiful photos taken from various space probes and the Hubble Space Telescope.

Steve Wolfe
Steve has an M.A. in Geography from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Steve has taught at the college level for 15 years and is currently a full-time instructor. Mr. Wolfe has avidly studied the creation vs. evolution issue for two decades. He taught classes on creation apologetics at his home church for many years, and now speaks regularly before interested groups. In 2004, Steve founded Creation Education Ministries solely for the purpose of teaching others about the truth of creation and the fallacies of evolution.

Seminar Title: Dinosaurs and the Bible

Evolutionary scientists tell us that dinosaurs have been extinct for over 65 million years, long before the first humans evolved. Many people assume that the mere existence of dinosaurs (and their fossils) discredits the Bible and is proof of evolution. But what does the Bible say about dinosaurs? Is there any evidence that they lived at the same time as people? What about recent findings of red blood cells and still elastic soft tissue in dinosaur bones? This presentation will show how a proper understanding of these amazing creatures confirms Scripture and can be used as an evangelistic tool to help point people to the Creator.
